Canon’S Eos 50D Bridges The Gap Between The Novice And Seasoned Pro With A Perfect Combination Of High-Speed And Quality. The Aps-C Sized 15.1-Megapixel Cmos Sensor Produces Tremendous Images. The Cmos Is Mated With A Digic 4 Image Processor That Renders Fine Detail And Superior Color Reproduction While Offering Iso Capabilities Up To 12800 For Uncompromised Shooting Even In The Dimmest Situations. Autofocus Performance Is Fast And Accurate. For Action Shooting 9 Sensitive ‘Cross-Type’ Dedicated Af Sensors Operate In Dim Lighting All The The Way Down To -0.5Ev And The Af Micro Adjustment Custom Function Helps Ensure Your Lenses Perform As Expected. The Large 3-Inch Clear View Lcd Monitor Features 920,000 Dots For Crisp Playback And Composition. Live-View Allows You To Compose Directly With The Sensor Image Using Contrast Detection Af Or Face Detection Af Mode To Provide Focus Precision Right Where You Want It Most.
Introduced In 2008, The Eos 50D Replaced The Canon Eos 40D ; Upgrades Include 50 Percent More Resolution, Live-View And Menu Refinements, Faster Image Processing, And Hdmi Output. In 2010 Canon Released The Eos 60D With A Modest Resolution Increase, Built-In Wireless Speedlite Control, Swivel Screen, And Sd Card Compatibility. The 50D Has Remained Popular In Part Because The 60D Has A Slightly Lower Burst Rate And Lacks Other 50D Features Such As A Cf Card Socket, Flash Sych Socket, Alloy Shell, And Af Micro Adjustment, And Joystick.

Staff Review
I Traded In My Old 30D Along With Some Cash To Acquire This Camera In 2009 And It Has Been My Workhorse Camera Ever Since. I Would Call Myself A Prosumer As I Do Shoot Part Time For A Living And I Also Shoot A Lot For Personal Enjoyment. It Is By No Means My Only Digital Or Film Camera, Just My Most Utilized.
The 15.1 Megapixels Have Been More Than Adequate For My Needs. The 9 Point Autofocus Is The Same As My 30D So No Change There But The Larger Screen Size And Hr Live View Has Really Been Nice. The Canon Digic Processor Is An Improvement As Well. The Micro Lenses That Cover The Imaging Sensor Are Gapless, That Help Increase The Light Gathering Efficiency Of The Pixels. The 50D Also Supports Udma Memory Cards. Iso Is Range 100-3200 With Extended Range Up To 12,800. The 50D Also Has Extended The Selection Of Raw File Sizes To Choose From And You Can Still Choose To Capture Raw With Jpeg Files At The Same Time. I Also Love The Sensor Cleaning Function That Helps Keep The Sensor Clean From Light Use. I Still Recommend A Professional Cleaning As Needed.
One Of My Most Utilized Functions Is The Flash. The On Board Flash Is Nice For Some Situations But You Should Invest In The 580 Ex Ii For The E-Ttl Features. In Fact, I Bought Three So I Could Use The Wireless Multi-Flash System For Location Shoots.
My Most Favorite Feature Of This Camera Is The Menu Screen. It Has To Be The Most User Friendly And Intuitive Menu Screen I Have Ever Used Up To This Point. I Have Owned 2 Other Brands And The Menu Screens Were Not As Intuitive As The One On The 50D. I Also Love The Control Wheels, Both Top And Rear.
Needless To Say That This Camera Has More Features Than I Need Or Use Or Could Write About. In The End It Just Feels Right In My Hand. – Larry Hicks
